Maybe it is time to tell you something more about the sponsors of our project. We decided to execute our project ‘Cycling for education’ for the IIMC, the Institute for Indian Mother and Child. As I did medical volunteer work 8 years ago, I had the chance to see how well this project works. I met the charismatic coordinator of it, Dr. Sujit, who worked with Mother Theresa in the past. During this trip I remain in close contact with Dr. Sujit.

Yesterday we met the members of the IIMC in Trieste. Our wonderful host Antonio proudly showed us around the city while he told us all kind of – sometimes funny, sometimes sad but realistic - stories of his time in India, hence visiting the different projects of the IIMC and the children he sponsors.

A child is sponsored by the IIMC so it can have a proper education - if the family isn’t able to raise enough money by itself. The money goes to the school fee, books, paper and pencils, etc.

Later that night we had dinner with his family and Carla, the strong woman behind the fundraising of IIMC Trieste. An ever so kind Italian American lady with a heart too big for this world. We conducted an interview with them, as you can see here below.

I believe in this people, as well as I do in dr. Sujit and the project.

In a world who is just about to recover from 2 to 3 years Covid, under the tension of the Ukranian tragedy, it is easy to understand that people’s minds are not quite busy with the misery that strikes a lot of children around Kolkata. At the same time I believe it is equally important to continue our supportive efforts for ongoing poverty as well as those for new, acute incomprehensible wars.

Education is one of the strategies to conquer poverty as well as to prevent a lot of diseases.

But whatever you do, do it with kind and great love.

We do love our project, as much as we love to cycle.
